Creating a new page in TYPO3 version 9

Creating new pages in TYPO3 can be done by either from scratch or by copying an existing page (when you copy, just remember to check all the page settings such as SEO and page URL, to make sure the information is correct).

Above the page tree, you will find a set of page type icons, here listed from right to left:

  1. Standard page, which you can place content on.
  2. Shortcut page, used to redirect from the website menu to another page inside the page tree/website.
  3. Link to external URL, will allow you to link to an external website from the menu.
  4. System folder, is used to store records like news articles and product related records.
  5. Menu separator, sometimes applied when a mega menu is used on the website (to divide the pages into columns), but can also be used as internal structuring of pages.

Creating a page from scratch

Above the page tree structure, you will see a set of icons (as described above), displaying the different types of pages available.

To add a new page, drag the page icon of choice down in the tree structure and drop it where you want it.

A page can either be droped between two existing pages, or it can be dropped on an existing page, to create a subpage.

The page title field is automatically opened, where you can add the page title. Press 'Enter' key to save. (1.1.2)

After creating the page, continue by going through the page settings/properties.

Copying an exiting page

To copy page, drag the page you wish to create the copy from by grabbing the page title in the tree structure and drop it where you want it.

A page can either be droped between two existing pages, or it can be dropped on an existing page, to create a subpage.

After releasing the page, a diagolue box will ask if you wish to Copy or Move the page, select Copy.

The page title field is automatically opened, where you can add the page title. Press 'Enter' key to save. (1.1.3)

After creating the page copy, continue by going through the page settings/properties.
